Toronados Highlight BCA All-GM Show

Van Nuys, California - The Buick Club of America sponsored 7th Annual All GM show was held on July 10, 2005 in Woodley Park with great success. Over 300 cars attended with familiar marquees such as Chevrolet, Pontiac, Oldsmobile, Buick, Cadillac, GMC and even a not-so-familiar Vauxhall.

Only two Toronados made it to the show, both first generation. One was a 1967 Bimini Blue whose owner was curiously missing throughout the show. The other was a rather unique Trumpet Gold 1966. It was none other than Jay Leno's famous rear-wheel drive "Corvado". Several interesting observations were made about this car which did not come to light in all of the articles and the Rides episode.

  • There is no air conditioning in the front of the car! All the vent balls are gone, and the long center vent in the middle of the dash is padded over. The right ball is where the clock was relocated, and a Tachometer is in the original clock location.
  • Air conditioning is in the REAR, and AC balls are mounted on top of the package tray.
  • This is a very minimally optioned car! No cruise, no rear defogger, no tilt/telescopic column, and the original AM radio.
  • It has a toggle switch bank below the dash, not at all keeping with the cars otherwise very professional build.
