Toronados Shine in Seattle Sun

Seattle, Washington - The 2005 OCA Nationals, sponsored by the Puget Sound Chapter of the OCA, began Wednesday, July 13 with an estimated 150 cars in attendance. There were 12 Toronados, which makes up about 8 percent of the field. This is a very good showing from a car with such low production numbers.

In class 14A (66-70 Toronado), two of the 3 66's scored a 1st place as did the lone 67 and 1 of the 69's. The third 66 scored a second place but has a great start on his restoration. The only 70, a GT, was there for the show only, though W34 cars are always nice to see.

In class 14B (71-78 Toronado Restored), only one was in attendance and scored a 1st place.

In class 14C (79-Present [92] Toronado), there were 3 in for show only. 2 of them were 88's and 1 was a 90.

In class 18 (Unrestored) the lone Toronado, a 69 with 35K on the odometer, was up against some very stiff competition including 2 H/O's. The 69 secured a 1st place, despite the odds.

In the 20N Seniors Toronado, Don Wahlstrom's Black 78 XS scored a best class.

Now, for what you have all been waiting for: Did anyone score a Best of class in --14A (66-70 Toronado)? Yes they did, it was ... Gary Hinman, with his beautiful 66 Deluxe in Laurel Mist. This car is truly a piece of art and is very deserving of the Best in Class. Take a look at these very fine examples and judge for yourselves.
