E-Bodies Unite-Rocky Mountain Show and Shine

By Mike Vogt
May 20, 2006, Greenwood Village, Colorado - The Rocky Mountain Oldsmobile Club hosted their Annual Show and Shine event. Due to the participation from the local Buick, Pontiac/Hudson, and Cadillac clubs, the event brought together three fine examples of the GM "E" body type. Along with two Toronado's (1968, 1969), an ROA member owned 1965 Buick Riviera and a 1968 Cadillac Eldorado made appearances.

This annual Show and Shine held at the Shepler's parking facilities was a great success with nearly the entire space filled with fine examples of Oldsmobiles, Pontiacs, Buicks, and Cadillacs.

The TOA was well represented with Mike Vogt's white 1968 hardtop and Bill Payne's autumn bronze 1969. Also in attendance was a well maintained 2003 Aurora.

As is typical in these types of shows, most of TOA members' time was spent talking with people who had fond, but vague, memories of these cars. The hidden headlights are always a point of fascination with both young and old car enthusiasts. Thank goodness for a good vacuum seal.

Others were seriously considering acquiring a first generation Toronado and were quizzing Bill and me. One excited individual exclaimed "I always wanted to look under the hood... to see how it was all done!" I could not resist popping the hood for him. Overall, it was a beautiful Saturday in South Denver with a fine showing of cars.
