1. IntroductionThe Toronado Mailing List exists for the purpose of exchanging information and promoting discussion about Oldsmobile Toronados of all years and models. Discussion about all aspects of the Toronado and the mutual interests of their owners is encouraged. This list is based Miami, Florida and administered by Mike Frederick in Tampa. mikefrederick@take5-net.com Members interested in information on a wider range of Oldsmobile models may want to consider also subscribing to the general Oldsmobile list at this location. Table of Contents2. HistoryThe Toro Mail List is the direct descendent of the Toro Mini-List, a subgroup of the original Oldsmobile list. The Toro Mini-List had been started earlier that year by Greg Kalkhoff and Mike Frederick as a method to allow the Toronado owners of the Oldsmobile list to exchange information without cluttering the bandwidth of the full Olds list. With the arrival of Dave Voorhis of Armchair Airlines Computer Services, the mini-list became a full Majordomo based list server in August of 1996. In 2003, Dave Duffner and PSCGi Internet Services came onboard to upgrade the Toro List servers and provide a steady base for its growth to the present day version. Table of Contents3. AcknowledgementsThe members of the Toro Mail List would like to thank the following for their support:
4. Membership PolicyThe Toro Mail List is an open list. No qualification is required to join, nor is ownership of a Toronado a prerequisite. Table of Contents5. Discussion GuidelinesAll postings should be Toronado-related in some way. Net etiquette is strongly encouraged at all times and the list is intended to be self- managing. Postings are unmoderated and therefore the list requires members to be responsible and courteous in what they post. Discussions of a personal nature, flames, profanity, or excessively commercial posts will not be permitted. Questions regarding the appropriateness of a commercial post should be directed to the list administrator. Violations of these guidelines will result in two private warnings to the offending party. A third violation will result in the party being removed from the list. Any instance of overt mailbombing shall result in immediate removal from the list. All such actions shall be solely at the discretion of the list administrator. Members who disagree with the appropriateness of a posting should first contact the other party by private email and make their views known directly. Please use courtesy, respect and discretion in any such discussions. Public embarrassment of any member via the list is not permitted. Remember, the Toro Mail List exists for both informative and entertainment purposes and is intended to be enjoyable for all. Follow-up discussions should only quote relevant passages of the original posting. The daily volume of messages requires members to be responsible in removing unnecessary text from follow-ups to efficiently use net resources. Repetitive or me-too postings are discouraged. In order to prevent spreading computer viruses and causing problems with some mail software, postings of graphics or image files, sound files, attached files, or very large (over 40,000 characters) messages will automatically be deleted. Notice of availability of such files should instead be posted if distribution is desired, and mailings can be made privately to interested individuals. Alternatively, notify the administrator privately, and he will make the files available for download via FTP and/or the Web. Table of Contents6. Membership ManagementIndividuals can subscribe and unsubscribe from the Toro Mail List directly. All membership requests are to be sent to majordomo and not the list itself. Send subscribe or unsubscribe requests to: Include one of the following as the only text in the body of the message:
Members are strongly encouraged to unsubscribe from the list if their mail
will be unreachable by majordomo for any period of time, or if they are
changing internet addresses. Chronic bounced mail (i.e. mailbox full, user
unknown, unreachable mail address, or other such error messages) will
result in removal of an address from the list by the administrator.
Generally several days grace will be provided unless the volume of bounces
becomes unmanageable. Please contact the list administrator, Mike Frederick
