Re: New member intro- first post.

yea, it was the 12V thing to the downshift solenoid that was causing the "problem"-- I related in another thread but appreciate you posting that confirmation here as well. I more-or-less met my time goal and enjoyed my first real outing in 'er up in Sonoma. Some teething pains, but that's ...

Re: transmission wiring '67 help please

Putting 12V directly into the transmission was not a good idea. I'm pretty sure that was preventing the transmission from shifting up out of first. Looking at the repair manual, when there's 12V going to the solenoid then the transmission is in a forced downshift. In my case, I was in a forced "...

Re: transmission wiring '67 help please

Ok, whoopsies! looks like the Black wire with Orange tracer that I connected directly to the transmission is to go to the kickdown switch mounted on the linkage. I noticed today in the bright daylight that there is a single wire terminal on the kickdown and it isn't black but is instead black with a...

transmission wiring '67 help please

Rodents ate much of the wiring and, while I do have a big orange 1967 manual, I'm not finding what I need. Background: allegedly rebuilt transmission, did ~ 200 miles, then car parked 8-12 years. I removed/checked governor and vacuum modulator valve and they appear to be functional, although I have ...

Re: New member intro- first post.

Yea, not looking forward to that part. Trouble-shooting the transmission no-shift issue. This is allegedly a rebuild tranny with ~200 miles on it before car was parked. Fluid looks fresh. I removed the vacuum modulator and pulled out the valve. There was a hint of corrosion on the surface of the rai...

Re: New member intro- first post.

Well, took my first drive in her today! I'm pretty surprised at how little she needed to get running again. New wires in the engine bay. A new ignition switch. New fuel lines (I got new rubber lines fished through the frame sections with surprisingly less fuss than I'd imagined). New water pump. New...

Re: Front WHeel Bearings

I realize I'm resurrecting an old thread, but I found this thread while researching wheelbearings and it was unclear if the current crop of wheelbearings being sold under SET23 through autozone were for a single bearing (either inner or outer) or a complete side (both inner and outer bearing). I can...
