Well I've been out of the game for almost 3 years, blind sided by some bad stuff. But I'm back at it again. I just switched the power steering pump and am getting ready to re-install. The new unit says the warranty is invalid if the system is not bled. Sooo does ny one know how to bleed the system o...

Unexpected move
Well the unexpected curves of life sometimes throws one a loop. This loop is neither that good or bad but it involves me selling my house and moving. The catch is the buyer wants me out in under a week or they won't pay as much. I have a 66 Toronado and a 67 parts car. The 66 has been in the local r...

Re: Compression test results 1966-- 425 C.I.
Bcroe and all, Its not running but I have made definite progress. 1. I decided to test the power feed to the distrib. First i blocked open the points with a wooden golf T then went to the negative thin wire from the coil. When I grasped the connector, to pull the connection apart, the wire slipped r...

Re: Compression test results 1966-- 425 C.I.
Schurkey and eightballz and all, First thanks for the help. I went to town today and bought a spark tester. When I got back I checked all wires first, made sure the distributor rotated when cranked and it looked fine. I also tried the shis kabob stick as a lever with the points closed and carefully ...

Re: Compression test results 1966-- 425 C.I.
I thought the new timing light was shot because I couldn't get it to work and had gotten it from a pawn shop. I tried it on another car (mustang 1996) and it works great. So now I'm not getting spark at my 1966 Toro plugs and I was before. I haven't even touched the distributor cap or points (both I...

Re: Compression test results 1966-- 425 C.I.
Eightballz, you mean when I check timing the vacumn advance vac tube should be off?
No problem, I'm having a surprisingly hard time finding a timing light...seems like just a few yrs ago they were in every car parts store. Might try ebay.
Thanks

Re: Compression test results 1966-- 425 C.I.
Ok, thanks. I have set the dwell, and I will re-check the compression tonight with the throttle open (just wire it open?).
I haven't checked timing in 20 years and I don't remember how to do that, I guess I could look it up.
Thanks again, checkov
