Re: Ford Family Adopts a 1966 Toronado

I'm staying with 4 wheel drums - just switching to a '67 style dual MC and matching booster. Do you think other parts will need changed? I will look into that.

Re: Ford Family Adopts a 1966 Toronado

Yep Otto - photos and lots of bagging and tagging of items. I think a lot of my vacuum lines have been monkeyed with so I plan to rely on pics of other nice engine bays and shop manuals for that. I can't wait to get the motor out and to the shop. I was told the turnaround time will only be about a m...

Re: Ford Family Adopts a 1966 Toronado

Yesterday I finally had a little time to wrench on El Toro. It is time to pull the motor and get the rebuild going. The girls and I drained the oil and coolant, removed the fan shroud and radiator ( damn it is a HUGE rad ), and unbolted the power steering pump and A/C compressor. Everything on this ...

Re: 1966 Toro Exhaust system

Thanks for the info. The muffler that I took of my car was shot - as was the whole system - but it was actually round. It seemed like there was a fair amount of room around the muffler when I removed it. I'm not concerned with originality as I am with it fitting well and sounding nice. I have decide...

Re: 1966 Toro Exhaust system

Thanks for the input guys. I still haven't pulled the trigger on the exhaust yet. I will probably ask around the local shops and see what they'd charge. Not sure if any of them do mandrel bending. I have a buddy who can weld up the system once it is installed. Part of the reason I'm holding off on t...

Doc - what's wrong with the muffler? Will it fit? I'm not so concerned about originality - but I do want it to fit / hang properly without modification and of course it has to sound decent. Thanks!

Re: Fixing '66 Toronado trim rings

Thanks for the input Otto. The ring has 2 layers to it with airspace between. If a rivet could enter thru the backside it would not be visible. I'm not sure how well it would hold up though. The JB Weld idea is also a thought.

Fixing '66 Toronado trim rings

Hi guys - has anyone found a way to fix / replace broken tabs on wheel trim rings? My rings are in good shape cosmetically but they are all missing one or more tabs. I'd rather not pay big bucks for rings in perfect shape, as my car is going to be a driver. Looking at the rings it seems that there m...

1966 Toro Exhaust system

Hi fellas - I need a new exhaust system for my '66 Toro. Looking around on EBay I found what seems like a pretty good deal. Full aluminized system with resonator delete pipes for $347.60. The guy is located in Geneva, Ohio and has pretty good feedback (>4300 with 99.1% positive ). He sells systems f...
