It is really not that big a deal, you just install a temp sensor in the manifold and hook it to the electric choke.
Eventually it will all go away when I convert to Fuel Injection. Seriously thinking about multi-port but not yet sure...

Re: Aluminum 2-piston calipers
You are thinking of the old Kelsey Hayes quad piston units from 67-68 which were said to be less good - although I had a set on my '68 many years ago that I rebuilt, and they worked fine. As for these units, the two smaller pistons produce equal or greater pressure area in a wider zone. Modern brake...

Re: Insane serpentine belt kit...
Actually, you have it backwards. Modern Serpentine belt systems are much more reliable as they have an automatic tensioner - something that this kit actually lacks for some odd reason. Much easier to replace a single belt, too. The belts themselves last longer and are much better made. The tensioner...

Re: 66 Toro Ignition system question
Personally I highly recommend replacing it with a modern system. If you can live with the non-original look go with an HEI distributor, if you require stock appearance go with a modern points replacement module that keeps the distributor looking stock while replacing the internals with a modern poin...

Re: Anyone used the Mallory E-Spark conversion kit?
This might be a bit late but I just bought a complete billet HEI distributor for $38 from KMJPerformance on ebay: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Oldsmobile-V-8-Hei-Distributor-Cutlass-350-455-425-8911-_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQhashZitem2c5b515ee4QQitemZ190510620388QQptZMotorsQ5fCarQ5fTruckQ5fPartsQ5fAccess...

Re: Hi from New England
I originally hail from New England and my advice to you is to look elsewhere for these cars. The New England winters were very hard on these cars due to the hybrid frame design; I had several of them back in the early to mid '80s and even then they were New England Rustbuckets - one, in fact, was a ...

Best source for Front End components
I found that Kanter (http://www.kanter.com) has the best price on Ball Joint/Tie-rod end kits. I am returning my order from Rare Parts ($600+) after finding the same set of ball joints plus the rubber bits for the control arms and such along with outer tie rod ends for $312... http://www.kanter.com/...

Aluminum 2-piston calipers
Looks like Wilwood produces an interesting upgrade for '69 and later single piston cast iron calipers based on the standardization that GM is known for. While I have not used these, I am very likely to consider them for next year's winter garage time when I will take my second pass at the car. The a...

Aluminum Intake Manifold from Rockwell
I just bought the aluminum intake Gary Rockwell designed for the Toronado and GMC motorhome engines. I have to say it looks really nice and is very light. It requires an Electric Choke carb, otherwise seems to be stock equivalent. I am seriously considering using the Fuel Injection bosses he so thou...
