New member intro- first post.
Yea, not looking forward to that part. Trouble-shooting the transmission no-shift issue. This is allegedly a rebuild tranny with ~200 miles on it before car was parked. Fluid looks fresh. I removed the vacuum modulator and pulled out the valve. There was a hint of corrosion on the surface of the ra...

72 Toronado at Pull a Part
When a 70s E car stripper comes my way, I drop the entire front suspension. Not hard
to do, these have much more available parts & better brakes, than the stuff used the first
couple of years. I gave them all away to owners, though I might have the engine or trans.

1966 Toronado No reverse and no 3rd gear
I wanted to know if anything can be done without taking this apart and rebuilding it? When I shift it into reverse I hear like the drum/clutch engaging but nothing happens, engine just revs up. When in drive it goes fine in first (NO SLIPPING) and shifts nicely into second but no third gear. I have...

I suppose there could be a conversion wiring kit for the late 70s/early 80s alternator. All you really need is to hook up the 2 small wires to the alt, after throwing away the mechanical reg and related wires. The wire from the GEN light goes to alt pin1; a wire from where the bat cable starts split...

I'm told, the old style alt can damage an HEI; never tried that combination.

That looks GREAT; the disc brakes are a must. Just add an HEI & internally regulated
alternator, will not regret. Bruce Roe
