Re: windlace, '66

Thanks Otto, while these pics came in I found another box and just in the last hour figured out how all the interior goes together. I've got two pieces that look like they had outside duty that still have me puzzling. I've attached a pic in case it turns on a light for you. I realize now that my Dad...

Re: windlace, '66

I recall that we used Riviera foam pads. My Dad, who was a trim specialist, sleuthed that out. If your upholstery is good its not that hard to take off the covers, replace the foam, and hog ring the cover back on. Also shouldn't be too expensive, maybe a day's time at a capable upholstery shop.

Re: windlace, '66

BTW, I had new foam padding installed. It is not that difficult to remove the upholstery, replace the foam, and re-install the upholstery.

You had a place do it? What'd they charge? I assume they had to custom shape the foam.

Re: windlace, '66

Metal trim piece?, you don't say. I'm gonna have to go dig through some more boxes :-]

(I did not disassemble this car, my Dad did, and he has passed.)

Re: windlace, '66

Thanks Otto. How does the headliner end at the sides, above the doors? My Cutlass uses the u-shaped rubber molding all along there. Would you mind sending a couple pics of how the Toro headliner ends?

BTW - beautiful interior, beautiful car!

Re: windlace, '66

Thank you Otto! That looks like an upholstered windlace vs. a molded/extruded windlace, is that correct? What about along the roof rail, from like the dash back to the sail panel?

windlace, '66

I don't have the windlace from disassembly. Where does it run from and to? The answer will reveal itself eventually, but I wouldn't mind trimming out and finishing my headliner sooner than that. Thanks in advance.

HVAC ducting preferences?

AC and heater ducting ... mine is sturdy, but old and very stiff. The stuff I see at auto parts stores looks like it won't last very long and I'd sure like to not have to take my dash apart again any time soon. Any recommendations on nice, flexible, long lasting AC and heater ducting? Should I use t...

Re: How To Fix Your Trunk Vent Drains

I inherited a pair of the rubber drain tubes from Fusick. However, for the life of me, I can't figure out what the enlarged donut section could accomplish other than collecting muck. It seems like the installation and function would be a lot easier and cleaner if I just cut off that end section. Doe...
