Re: Anyone used the Mallory E-Spark conversion kit?
The Mallory E-Spark is a less-expensive version of the Mallory Unilite. The Unilite, and the E-Spark are both very fragile in terms of over-voltage. Mallory cut corners when designing the things, they don't have appropriate protection circuitry or robust components. Mallory expects you to add a $40 ...

Re: '66 Low Power and Crazy Timing
Bring damper/timing notch to TDC by turning with ratchet/socket in the NORMAL DIRECTION OF ROTATION. Remove distributor cap. Have a helper WATCH THE DISTRIBUTOR ROTOR FOR MOVEMENT while you turn crankshaft/damper BACKWARDS, slowly, smoothly, and carefully . When helper sees rotor begin to move, he y...

Re: 69 toro head lights
How about the vacuum diaphragm that unlocks the main shaft of the canister? Is it getting vacuum? Does it hold vacuum?
If the shaft isn't unlocked, the headlights can't retract.

Re: Engine and transmission mounts
I'm thinking that there's no such thing as "new" trans mounts. You buy "good used" or send yours off to be rebuilt with fresh rubber.
That MIGHT be the case with the motor mount, too.
At least, I don't know of any source to buy them from.

Re: 455 front main seal
Remove belts, remove crankshaft pulley(s) remove torsional damper bolt, heavy washer, and damper. Pop seal out of front cover. Inspect damper hub sealing surface for groove. If grooved, install repair sleeve or replace damper. This is a good time to clean the damper, paint a white stripe on the timi...

Re: Transmission leak 1966 Toronado
There's a plenty of potential leak points, and most of them will drizzle down to the pan gasket which then makes it look like the pan gasket is leaking. If your pan gasket is recent, and you're confident in the installation--start looking at the: 1. Modulator O-ring seal 2. Shift-shaft (manual shaft...

Re: 66 Toronado Wheel Bearings
The obvious solution is to dump the front drum brakes, convert to disc brakes using the newer steering knuckle which also gets you the newer bearings. I bet you could buy the parts for the same or less than the new bearings--but there'd be some extra labor in the conversion. Of course, the disc brak...

Re: I'm thinking of doing the Disc conversion on my '66 a fe
- Do we know what years of Toro and Eldo spindles will work such that my '67 wheel bearings can be reused, or did all years use the same bearings? I may have a line on a '73 Eldo's knuckles for cheap, thus the question. Far as I know, you're much better off to use the wheel bearings from the '73. C...
