Re: Winter upgrades on the list...

I put a dolphin light into my power outlet. Here in Miami, these things are necessary.

Re: Winter upgrades on the list...

Remove the ignition switch and install a 2nd power outlet. The power outlet need not be used for anything, but it might appear better than an ignition switch.

Re: Winter upgrades on the list...

I would like to see your modified instrument panel. I'm looking for ideas. Installing just the head unit into the factory radio position is an intriguing solution. However I've gotten used to my future plan of installing a custom floor console for a large (double-DIN) DVD player/GPS navigator, plus ...

Re: Winter upgrades on the list...

As you can see, over the years I have given this a great deal of thought. My factory bench seat is in perfect condition. However it becomes uncomfortable during drives greater than 25 miles or so, and I have no problem modifying my car in a "blasphemous" fashion. Witness the front disc bra...

Re: USA Parts Supply - a reputable company

Did I lubricate the ball joints regularly? No, and I doubt this was done during the several quickie oil changes that were done, either. However now that I have learned something new, I will insist that this is done, going forward. What are your recommendations for ball joint lubrication interval and...

Re: Winter upgrades on the list...

A visit to the Cadillac dealer should answer that question. None are near me though. A worst-case scenario may involve using front seats from a non-GM car, so long as the seats have the following items: 1) Bucket, for lateral support 2) Leather surface 3) Flips forward to permit ease of entry to rea...

Re: USA Parts Supply - a reputable company

Upper and lower ball joints were replaced September 2005, at 25,314 miles. This was done during the front disc brake installation. Upper and lower ball joints were again replaced June 2011, at 31,088 miles. This was done during the fuel system restoration (install remanufactured sending unit, replac...

Re: Is the Qjet leaking? Hard to start after three days

I have experienced this exact problem since I purchased my 1968 Toronado in 2004. I have had my entire fuel line replaced from tank to mechanical fuel pump, the carburetor rebuilt, new fuel pump installed, and multiple other things looked at and worked on. I have been told that the fuel bowl is not ...

Re: Winter upgrades on the list...

Several of the upgrades you mention are also on my list including sound system, modern seats, and cruise control. I have not tackled any of these yet as I anticipate there will be considerable problems for each project. I brought my 1968 Toronado to a car stereo shop here in Miami. The bad news is t...
