Window rollers
I was exiting the driver's door yesterday and window fell off the tracks. I took off the door panel and discovered the plastic window rollers were in very poor shape. Of course that is not very surprising given the age of the car. My question is, are these rollers interchangeable with other GM cars of the era. Has anybody tried using rollers from other GM's?

Could you post a pic?
I remember seeing that the rollers were similar to the ones the hardware store sells for glass showers doors. Can you compare it with one of those at the store?

Additionally, check the HELP section at the chain auto parts stores. I've seen various shaped window rollers for sale there. Usually manufactured by Dorman, an OEM manufacturer.
I just checked Rock Auto. They have them. Look under Universal Tools and Parts then click on Interior.

Great suggestion Otto.
Those HELP items are some of the handiest parts in the parts store.

Re: Window rollers
I checked the Help section parts. They only to seem to have the rollers for later model Toronado's What I'm going to do is take out the glass and find the best match possible. I'll let everyone know what I discover.

- Years Owned: My first Toronado was a 1968 W-34 with the bucket seats and center console... (weeps gently) It was a New England rustbucket in 1982 after less than 14 years. So sad. But it is what infected me and before I knew it I had another '68, a '69, a '70 and eventually inherited a friend's '67 and another friends '73. After buying my brand new Grand Prix in 1988 I retired the last of my Toronados and pulled the 455 I had rebuilt along the way and put it into storage in a friend's barn where it is to this day.
In Mid September of 2010 I happened to see a repeat of the show where Jay Leno did his 66 Toronado and had an instant remission of the disease which resulted in my purchase of a 1969 in very good condition. I am now in the process of fully rehabilitating it and hope to have it on the road in the spring of 2011. - Location: Gig Harbor, WA
Re: Window rollers
Rivieras are identical - I just used the regulators from a 60s Riv to replace the manual windows with power windows in my car.

Re: Window rollers
I drilled out the damaged roller yesterday. It's amazing how such a small piece can have a big effect on the function of the window.
