66' Headlamp dimmer switch

Good day all!

I just got my 66' Toro and I noticed I have a bad headlight dimmer switch. It's preventing the low beam headlights from working. If I reach down and turn it a little, the lights come back on. I'm assuming the switch is bad.

Does anyone know how to get that thing out though? It seems like it is buried under the material which feels like it's glued down. I can stick my finger in the gap between the switch and the carpet and if I pull the carpet, it feels solid. I have no idea how to get some access to the switch to replace it.

I was thinking about cutting around it a bit to expose the switch but wanted to check here before I did anything.

Cheers!

It`s tricky to demount the switch. First you have to unscrew (8 screws or rivets I guess) the foot pan if it in place. The screws are under the ribbed foot mat. Look at the picture. Pull the carpet from the edge then and unscrew the switch (2 screws 1/4"). Maybe you must demount the side kick panel also. Work slowly and step by step. One screw of the kick panel is outside the A-pillar!
But before you replace your switch, try to step on it 10 to 20 times (maybe with some help of WD40, sprayed with a small tube from underside). Could be only a little bit rusty or hardened grease.
Good luck.

I took a good look at it today and used some WD40 on the switch but it just doesn't work right. I'm thinking of just using a sharp utility knife to cut away a bit of the carpet so I can get at the switch to replace it. It's all covered beneath the mat and you wouldn't need to remove much material anyway.
