That is a standard RWD filter mount, cannot be used on FWD. Lets see
the mount I sent you. Also uses a smaller dia filter. Bruce Roe

Re: newbie needs 79 mounts
problem is the thickness of the base-facing the block. regular dieselolds base is same thickness AS Rwd olds filter base. tried that too. dont fit. toro has ots own, with thicker base that faces the engone block- so its far enough from starter.

newbie needs 79 mounts
I no longer have a car with that setup, so hard to be certain. If you just need
to space it out, a block of aluminum with 5 holes drilled, and an extra gasket,
ought to do it. I thought mine swings the oil filter (a 3429 or equivalent) more
away from the starter. Bruce Roe

oil filter base not thick enough Re: newbie needs 79 mounts
now pic with diesel filter base you sent. the toro filter must have thicker part that moves the filter further away from starter. the upper attachment bolt hardly reaches the engine block so i can hang it there...

Re: newbie needs 79 mounts
here is one more close-up. Yea i need to make a aluminium spacer with 5 holes.
but otherwise i have now new seal in front axle and we got the final drive axle supporta bent correctly back in right position. and exhausts are also under work- but of course the manifold flange is different from chevy; so waiting that from rockauto- i got the last one. other one has to be also custom made...

Re: newbie needs 79 mounts
Neither one of those oil filter mounts should hit the engine or proper
Toronado oil pan. The 3429 filter is only slightly larger dia than the
mount, should also clear. I expect the problem is hitting the starter
solenoid. Olds starter is on left side for RWD, but the FWD trans puts
it on the right side. Did you try my FWD special ring gear against your
new starter? Makes me wonder, could the starter be rotated around to
put the solenoid away from the filter? Bruce Roe

nope, cant be rotated. i have to make a spacer for oil filter. and no; i did not test it yet- the starter came so long time from rockauto that engine was already in place due the fact i had to return the engine hoist
