Hello Everyone,

I joined back in November right after I bought my 67 Toro, but was slow in introducing myself.

I am a single car transporter of Classics/Hot Rods/Exotics all over the country & that allows me to see lots of good stuff for sale, hence the fact the Toro makes number 12 collector type cars! LOL

My Toro came from the high desert area of Southern Idaho, so it was 99% rust free & original paint except for the passenger fender. It was running & driving but if course the interior was trashed & was a great candidate for a restoration. So as of today, it is painted & I am currently doing 4 rounds of wet sanding before I buff it, the interior is at my interior guys shop being worked on (hopefully), I just picked up the re-chromed bumpers at Tri-City Plating during my last transport trip & have been very generous to Fusicks & a couple other places for carpet, headliner, all new rubbers, emblems, etc, etc, etc I still have to pull the dash out to replace the top piece & restore the dash itself as well as install the tilt/tele column I bought for it. I am in the process of building 3 cars, so I don't know if it will be out this year or not, but at least it still runs & drives so I can move it around the shop!

Looking forward to reading more threads on the forum & maybe picking some brains on some of the more obscure intricacies of the Toro

God Bless
Bill

That's beautiful. Nice color.

Where in northern Ohio are you? I'm originally from Cleveland (Olmsted Falls) but moved to Atlanta when I was in high school.

That's the best thing my parents ever did because there are thousands of rust free cars here in the South.

Thank you Gentlemen!

Otto, I live in New London Twp (about 50 miles west of Cleveland) but grew up in Brook Park. You definitely have much cleaner stuff down there. Part of my business from 1983- early 2000's was selling body parts from your area to Cleveland area body shops & junk yards. I was down there every other week. Towns like Stone Mountain, Loganville, Gainesville, Ellijay, Toccoa, Ball Ground, Hartwell, etc, etc. Love the area & the people!!!

Pretty cool. I have a buddy in Grand Rapids who has friends that make runs to Georgia and Florida to buy pickup truck parts - mostly beds and front fenders.

They pay next to nothing for them and haul them back to Michigan to sell top body shops to repair the rusted out beds and fenders of Yankee trucks.

When I was in high school I bought a '66 Mustang for less than $1000 (6 cyl coupe). Except for faded paint, it looked nearly new. No dents, rust or tears in the interior.

Meanwhile my cousin in Brecksville was bragging about his '68 GTO that he only paid $2800 for. It was a rusted out POS with the quarter panel wheel openings flapping in the breeze. You could stick a screwdriver through parts of the frame.

Shiny pieces supplied by Tri-City Plating in Elizabethton, Tn! I highly recommend them for your bumper re-chroming, they also have about 5 acres of bumper cores if yours is too far gone! These are probably #s 7 & 8 they have done for me. Ask for Chip, tell him Bill from Bill's Auto Works sent you!

I am finished with wet sanding & buffing all the parts shot off the car, but I knew this color would not "Picture Well" in the sun. Next is remove the exhaust, scrub & pressure wash the underside, then shoot it chassis black before I wet sand & buff the shell itself.

God bless

Bill, I don't mean to pry, but would you tell me what the price was to rechrome your bumpers?

Hi Marty,

Normally I would just give you an exact price, I never think I have to hide stuff, but since I believe I am getting a discount because I use them so much & have a good working relationship with Chip, I will just give you a range

Front with ends $900-1150

Rear $700-875

I am sure if you take a real piece of junk in, he is going to charge more for the extra labor required to make it right or he may say he cannot fix it & you need a different core!

Of course these prices do NOT including shipping both ways! I am lucky in that since I am a transporter, I drop them off when I am in the area & pick them up the next time I come through after they are finished.

Hope this helps.

God Bless

Progress has kind of stalled as I was just on an 8500 mile lap of the country, but I did manage to get the underside shot with Tamco Chassis Black before I left. It is so nice to work on clean rust-free cars, I am really getting spoiled as 3 of the 4 I am currently building are desert cars!
