I got a 66'!

Postby Ourkid2000 » Wed Jun 08, 2022 5:36 pm

Good evening all,

I just inherited my fathers 1966 Toronado and I'm pretty happy. He bought it from the original owner back in 1973 and now it's mine as he's downsizing as he gets older. I currently live in Nova Scotia, Canada.

This was our family car back in the 70's and was stored every winter. It's got its share of problems and there's a bit of rust but overall it's a pretty good one.

I've been working on the issues that it has for the past few days and have had an enormous amount of fun doing so. I look forward to interacting with the expertise and experience of the members of this site. Any questions, let me know! I will post some pictures when I get a chance.

Cheers!

Congratulations!

Having a Toro is great, but getting one that has family memories attached is even better!

God bless
Bill

It was Frost Green. Currently badly in need of a paint job.

Original drums. Nice.. New replacements are crap.

When you do your brakes, its better to turn the originals if they are within spec than it is buy new ones. Make sure whomever you take them to uses a low speed lathe and takes off a little at a time in two or three passes - 15 minutes or so per drum. These idiots that try to ram them through in one pass should be strung up by their thumbs.
