Serto

Now in English :)

It is completely in original condition except air conditioning. It was rebuilt true to the original.
I'm going to my mechanic next week to change the oil pan gaskets. He says you have to take the whole engine out to do this job. There is no other way with this model
Since he learned his trade here at GM Suisse and has worked with American cars for 40 years, I believe him.

Has anyone done this before? is it really like that? The only way?

Okay I understand. Because it's such a hard job, no one has done it before and that's why oil is dripping under the car. I love this car and that's why I'll have it done.

In addition, the two doors are adjusted because they are very difficult to close. We changed all the windows and door rubbers a year ago. The original radio also no longer works. He will look at that too.

Does anyone have any idea why there are so few of these 1973 Toronados out there even though it was the one that sold the most? Where are all these cars?
My Toronado according to the Swiss Auto Database,is the only 1973 Toronado in Switzerland :|

Cars from the 1970s don't have the following that 50s and 60s vehicles have had for a long time.

Federal regulations that went into effect in 1974 essentially made 1972 the final year of the "60s" cars. Most American makers changed body designs in 1973 in anticipation of the new regs. More importantly the engines had to meet strict emission requirements and lost a lot of horsepower in the process.

Build quality also suffered in the 1970s so a lot of the cars just rotted away. Your car is a unique exception. Even here in the United States you rarely see any cars from the 1970s at car shows.

Okay I understand. It's a shame because I think every era has produced its own beautiful cars. I just think everyone is beautiful up to 1978.
I try to take care of my car so that it can drive for several more years. This year it turned 50 years old. After the oil pan repair, there is actually no other major work ahead.
The only thing that makes me sad about my car is that it no longer has the original service booklet. That means I can't prove it really has 29500 miles on it.Unfortunately it wasn't there when I bought it.
My car mechanic after a thorough inspection thinks it might be right.

I love this car and enjoy every mile with it.

Sero - you has PM ;)

And maybe with interests: there is a german language Toronado forum https://www.motor-talk.de/forum/oldsmobile-toronado-1966-1970-sammelthread-t3350364.html
Officially only for 1966 to 1970 Toros, but these cars ar so rare in EU, nobody will shame you with a later model. Try it.

Hello Roland
Thank you very much for your message and your valuable tips. :)
I have forwarded your recommendations to my auto mechanic.
Yes, I also noticed that there are really very few of the 2nd generation Toronado in the EU. When I go meet classic cars, my Toronado is the only one anyway. Full of mustangs everywhere
but it is the way it is. ;)
I enjoy my car and look forward to different experiences from the 2nd generation owner.
when all the work is done i will show some detail photos. Maybe they will help someone

That's a really nice looking car. Car shows are full of Mustangs here, too!

Here the Mustangs are completely overpriced. sometimes they don't have half the equipment that I have in my toronado. But I know that demand determines the price :?

Yesterday i got the front bumper fillers from replica plastics. Looks good. Hopefully they fit well.
