Does anyone know what the diameter of a typical gen 1 steering wheel is? I don’t have mine right now and am thinking of just buying a wheel wrap.

'66 is 15 1/2" in diameter.

Your '69 has the GM 3 spoke wheel. I don't know if it's the same size or not.

Okay great, thanks! Mine is also a two spoke wheel so it might be the same size. I was just curious because I’m going to use a wheel cover wrap for the time being. It’s in pretty bad shape and am focusing more on buying and installing a new carpet and getting the loose steering issue fixed.

So you have the optional wheel. Did that come with a package with bucket seats or something? I'm not sure.

I’m not sure, but I’m pretty sure it was powered bench seat. It is the base model, but whoever bought it ordered it with that, the wheel, disc brakes, air conditioning, and power windows.

Isn't that weird how you could option up a base model to Deluxe level or delete a bunch of stuff on the Deluxe model to make it a Base?

The original buyer of my car deleted the power windows and air conditioning. What a dope! At least keep the power windows so you can roll them all down in the blazing heat without having to park and walk around the car to do it!

Yeah I’m definitely keeping the power windows on mine haha. I just need to rebuild the front motors since they move very slowly. Hopefully I get the air conditioning and heater to work in the future, but I can live without them for the time being.

If your window motors work but they're just slow, they probably just need cleaning. Clean and lube all the window tracks and guides, scissor mechanism, etc. Clean and lube the gear and rack.

Spray silicone lubricant in the vertical window channels where the glass rides.

How difficult is it to access those? Do I have to remove the entire door panel to do that?

Yes, you do. That's normally not too difficult. My car doesn't have power windows but my 56 Cadillac does. Undo all the screws around the edges of the panel. Get one of those upholstery tools to finesse the rest of the clips out as you work the panel off. They'll tear off the cardboard that the vinyl is mounted to if you aren't careful.
