1966 Windshield
1966 Windshield
Does anyone know of a good source for a windshield for a 1966 Toronado. I have found a Safelite shop that will replace it for $453.71 but they will not offer mobile service and I will have to take the car approximately 2 hours to the shop. I have also gotten a quote from windshields2go.com of $428.00 shipped to me and I have a local installer install it for a total of about $500.00. Any other suggestions? Thanks.

..... not right off hand ...but ...presumably 2hr drive = 100 miles round trip 4 hrs 200 mile and time / distance is money I can see Safelite's reluctance to provide mobile service. It may be todays current going price, still it seems a little steep.

I understand what you are saying about Safelite. I failed to mention that they do have an installer about 30 minutes from me but will not send him out. Because of the car's age, they want it taken to one of their shops.

Oh yeah .... I can understand that certainly a more controlled environment for which to work.

How long ago did they do it?
Re: 1966 Windshield
This windshield is still available. Here is the deal. The glass is listed as part W669 (66-69) on many sites. The glass is made by PPG but some are removing the logo and re-blasting the original LOF logo. It is likely all of the quotes you get are the same part.
The wholesale price on this glass is less than $200 but many mark it up quite a bit. Call around to every shop you can find, even small mom and pop shops. Someone will be able to find the glass for less than $450. I wouldnt pay a penny over $300.
Also make sure they dont accidentally put in the antenna glass from 1970. When I ordered mine they made that mistake and had to take it back.
