the metal that the bottom of my windshield on my 66 glues to is rotted out, and I need a new one. If anyone has one on a parts car, or can make me one, please let me know. Its the only thing keepong my toro from being road-worthy.

I have the chrome piece that goes along the bottom of the windshield for a 68 Toro. I doubt that it is what you need, but if so, let me know.

Nope, ive got all my chrome. I'm looking for the metal the glass actually glues to. It's a piece of the dash as well, it folds over at the end. Its just a piece of sheet metal, nothing youd ever see when assembled. I just need the piece right under the glass cut out, or fabricated. I've highlighted the whole piece here, but I only need a patch-piece of it.

Still no takers? I really need this piece. It's the only thing keeping my toro off the road right now...

Looks to me like you could braze in a patch on the front where the rot is. This would require a repaint of the area.
Could the section come out if it was cut in the right places?

I've got no qualms with chopping it out and patching it up. That's actually what I had in mind. If it were a flat piece of steel, or even a simple curve, I could do it myself. But it's a compound curve, and there's got to be a ledge on it for the windshield... (Or, I could just put a couple bolts through it and call it could enough ) I have neither the tools, the skill, nor the patience to create such a piece.

lol, roofing tar! Of course! Why didn't I think of that?!?

Naw, I finally got off my lazy butt, (And it got to be a respectable temperature outside) so I went ahead and tried the longshot of making a template, and seeing if the part could be made with flat metal... Good News! It can I made a piece out of some fiberglass panel I had for testing purposes, and it fits quite nicely. All I need to do is replicate it in metal.

Now I do have 2 questions though:

What kind of metal should I use? I was eyeing some galvenized roof flashing, both for it's rust-resistance, and ease of transport.

Is welding the best choice? If I go to weld it, I'll have to pull pretty much everything flamable infront of my seats out, dash, electronics, duct work, etc. And cover all the wiring.... I understand there's a new adhesive they use for attatching body panels now a'days, I was wondering if i couldn't just cut out the worst of the rot, POR-15 everything in reach, and "glue" the new piece ontop of the old.
