Intermediate brake cable

I have 1 1989 Olds Toronado base model. The parking brake is busted. I took it to a mechanic who told me he can't fix it because he can't find the intermediate brake cable. He said he can find the right and left brake cables but not the intermediate cable. He said if I can find this cable he will install it. After doing some research I suspect that there is no intermediate brake cable on the 1989 Toronado. Can anyone confirm this? What should I tell the mechanic?

I can't confirm for the 86-89's, but check out http://www.rockauto.com. If these cables aren't available, my trofeo may never have a parking brake. Please let us know how this turns out.

Rockauto shows an intermediate cable from DORMAN for less than $20. Do post a follow up though and let us know how it turns out.
