Back to sourcing used parts for disc brake conversions I guess

What difficulties did they speak of?

They simply said manufacturing difficulties and left it at that. I was disappointed to say the least.

I don't specifically remember the date two years ago or so, though when I heard /saw that Kanter started to market this disc brake conversion (that would enable the use of 66 drum wheels) I was more than a little skeptical.

There is just not enough room inside that drum wheel to accommodate a disc large enough
to more than do the job of the 67/8 disc system and/or as well as the 69 and up do, and still leave adequate clearances for the caliper.

It looked good on paper but as in (horse shoes, hand grenades and m79's) not even close and still no cigar!

If one is serious about disc brakes spend the money and stick with the 69 and up systems you will not be sorry!

Back on topic.

I flushed and refilled the system after I suffered a complete brake failure on the way to winter storage last year. What a bummer way to store your Toronado.

I had one wheel cylinder I couldn't budge the bleeder. The right rear is still dragging, and I think its putting enough heat into the system to lock up all four, leaving me stranded until they cool. Like they did last Saturday with my wife in a Bridesmaid dress and me in a tux. ugh.

Tonight I bought four new wheel cylinders, and I will begin with the nasty right rear sometime this week.

Eventually I will remove and replace all four wheel cylinders, due to their age (at least 25 years) and the fact that this car gets driven with my family in it.
