Is that the piston head? If it came out that clean then you had a head gasket leak. Is the piston scored? It looks that way in the picture.

Re: Engine problem 1966 Toronado
Hello all, Toro guys
I need your help. Would you like to tell me if I can put down the engine without to touch the transmission? Where is the suspension of transmission?
after put down The engine is transmission and differential fully stable or I need a special equipment to protect it?
To take off the engine I need at the front two screws on the right side two screws and on the left side … the rest are only a screw on transmission
is That right or the fix points …on another position
With best regards
Wojtek

Hi Jelonek, you can take out only the engine but you must securely support the transmission. You do not want the transmission to move down at all. I belive there is some unbolting to do near the axles/differentials. Also take special note of the front engine mount.

Make sure to buy volume 1 and 2. They come in a set. Everything specific to the Toronado is in the second book.
