In my Tires and wheels thread I had asked if a fellow member could take some measurements of a series 1 car as my car is dis-assembled, but got no response.

I am looking for the distance from the hub center to the center of the fender arch both front and rear.

If you could also provide the tire size you have on the car that would help,too

Not sure of the measurements but all my 1970's have 255/70/15's on them with no issues either in turning or taking bumps--beefy looking.

my car wears 225/70r15s on all fours.
front 18 1/4"
Rear 17 1/2

Factory specs in the service manual provide a distance from ground to bottom of the body behind front wheels and ahead of rear wheels--there are specific measurements so you measure from the ground to a specific place on the body. That said, it's a poor way to measure ride-height because it does not take body mount condition or tire diameter into consideration.

In front, I prefer to see the axle shafts level at normal ride height. In the rear, set the height to "look right" compared to the front.

Agreed with the rocker panel height being the standard, but what I was after was a measurement to use while my car is without a drive train and up on stands.
I'm trying to use a "Percy's wheel rite" gauge to measure for wheel and tire clearance so that is why I was looking for the hub to fender distance.
