Most of you know I am not trying to do a "restoration" more like a daily driver / pro-touring car.
I finally finished patching the few holes in the floor pan and trunk and decided to put a coat of light gray primer over the whole thing to clean it up and make it more pleasant to work in and on.
So I stripped out all the jack clips knowing I will never use a bumper jack anyway, but there are two big bolts that are just on the inside of the spare tire well. I thought they might be hangar bolts for the muffler, but this does not show in any of my documentation.
Anybody know what they are for?

Not absolutely sure, but I think those are for the seatbelts for rear seat.

Re: What are these bolts for?
Can you be more specific about which bolts you're talking about in the photo? Also I can't tell from what perspective the photo is taken. Standing in back of the car looking in?
The only things I see in the wheel well are two holes down at the bottom. The only big bolts I see are not inside the spare wheel well but just before it on what appears to be the trunk floor. Notice that they are not centered (don't know if that's significant).

Doc & Otto,
The bolt heads show in the photo (taken from the trunk looking forward) as two round carriage-bolt like bumps just before the spare tire well. (toward the rear of the car from the well)
There was nothing attached to them when I got the car, but I think the previous owner was running it with strait pipes! I thought it might be muffler hangars, but my books show the muffler hanging off the frame rails on either side.
Not the gas tank mount either as they slide into T slots on the crossmember.
No big deal, just wondering what they are there for.

I thought that those might be what you're talking about. I'll look at my car and see if I can tell. My trunk is upholstered but I think I can lift it up and have a look.
You mentioned that you removed the clips, etc. for the jack. By any chance do you have the Toro lug wrench that fits in the clip on the passenger side wheel housing? My car has all its parts except the wrench. I'd buy you a new one in exchange if you didn't want it.

Re: What are these bolts for?
Hi BC,
My car doesn't have those bolts in your picture. The fact that yours are installed asymmetrically indicates to me that they were not installed at the factory.
Your guess that they are exhaust hangers might be correct. Some dope at Midas probably couldn't find the correct ones or didn't know where they were supposed to go and decided to make his own.
I think they're too far back to be associated with seat belts.
Regarding your jack hardware, do you have the latch that holds down the left hand side of the jack? It threads onto a a stud that comes out of the trunk floor just inboard of the wheelhouse. Mine is missing in case you want to get rid of any of that stuff.

Re: What are these bolts for?
Otto,
don't think I have a latch, there were just a few parts screwed on or near the shock tower on the driver's side and the clip (for the lug wrench?) on the passenger side.
I do have a jack, but I don't think there was even a lug wrench.
If you have, or can find a photo of the latch post one up. I could be hiding amoung the boxes of stuff that came with the car. I have sorted most of it and got rid of the random Jaguar parts that were included, but there are some mystery parts...

Thanks. I'll see if I can find a photo. Since I don't have one I don't even know what it looks like. All I have is the threaded rod sticking up and it looks like there should be something on it that secures that end of the jack.

bluecab,
Sorry I thought you meant the two holes closer to the spare tire well. Here's a picture of my 67 torn apart, and this was virgin on this car. I think that you guys are probably right, it's something installed for exhaust hangers.
