Half shaft joint life

I was wondering, if anyone has ideas on the service of a half shaft joint for a
79-85 Toronado? They seem to last a long time, but probably not as far as
I will take them. How is wear measured? How this affected when I run a left
side in reverse on the right side.? Bruce Roe
