Need a 66 passenger axle

Hi everyone,

Would welcome any suggestions or leads on getting a new 66 Toro passenger axle. And let me add, the shop I went said the inner boot was all ripped up -- they suggested I replace the axle, the ordered a couple but none fit. To listen to them it sounded like they got a GXP axle but it didn't mate up right. They said the Toro axle has an inner cylinder that inserts into the drivetrain. The replacements didn't have that -- or the cylinder damper.

So any thoughts on where to find good replacement axles would be appreciated -- if I could find a set I would replace both axles at the same time for peace of mind and consistent part replacement. Thanks everyone.

Everyone I have heard of, has given up on there right side axle, because there is no
repair for the failing damper. The usual fix is to use a left side axle with no damper.

I have read, the 66-67 axles have a variation on the inner bolt up to the drive plate.
Have not tried it, but it seemed it was something that could be cured by drilling or
tapping 6 new holes, I forgot the details.

Another connection fix would be put in a later 2.73:1 final drive complete setup, save
a lot of gasoline. The motorhome guys would love to get ahold of your 3.21:1.

You guys may want to contact http://www.appliedgmc.com and see if they have a solution.

They rebuild axles if you send them a core. They also sell boots, etc.
