That is the joint. Both inner and outer.

if you buy new ones, do not discard your old ones. You may need them someday if the new ones don't last or if you want to have them rebuilt.

Right on, with stuff this old you NEVER throw anything special away, just in case.

Look how a head gasket repair snowballed into a complete engine rebuild, axle replacement, possible transmission rebuild, steering gear replacement, heater core replacement, engine bay paint job, etc.

While you;re at it how about new control arm bushings and ball joints? Hahaha!

Damn jalopies!

By any chance anyone know where I can find the right side motor mount? RockAuto only offers the left side at the moment.

There are companies which will vulcanize new rubber to your old mounts if you can't locate a new one. Steele Rubber used to do this. Maybe still does.

This company does it.

Save your old mounts even if you buy new ones.

Thanks! I’ll look into it and see if I can revive the old mounts.

I finally got the engine block back from the machine shop, as well as the crank, and the guy that works there told me that I need to use Lucas Hot Rod Oil to break-in the engine. I asked him if I should use break-in oil specifically (like Lucas Break-In Oil), but he said that the regular Hot Rod oil is fine. Is this true? I just want want to make sure since I want everything to go well.

There is a wide and long-standing debate regarding the the use and efficacy of "break-in" oil.

Do auto manufacturers use break-in oil on the millions of engines they build? Do they run them for specified intervals, drain it out and install regular 10w-30 or whatever? Of course not.

Hopefully your engine builder is guaranteeing his work. Follow his instructions to the letter to maintain the warranty. If he says use a certain product, do it.

Okay, will do! I just ordered the Lucas Hot Rod Oil for $42 on Amazon. Quite expensive, but he said that it’s meant for this car and it’ll help in the long run. I checked the content for the Lucas Break-In Oil and think it’s a bit too much: about 4,500 ppm. For the regular oil it’s about 2,100 ppm.
