Hard starting '66 Toronado

I have a '66 with Rochester carb, but this same hard start problem happened with an Eldrlbrock carb. I picked the car up from shop & it cold-started right up. 2 others times during that day i futned it off- :45 & 2 hrs, and each time it started right up. I went home & parked it overnight from 4pm until 8 am the next day. Car would not start only crank crank crank. It still hasn't started. What issues/ problems should i be looking for?? Thanks

Check ignition - timing, good or better new spark plugs, cap, rotor and contact. If your ignition is fine look closer to the carb and fuel pump. Rochester of the first years tend to leak into the manifold. No fuel in the bowl then. Edelbrock is a wrong choice. Bad hood clearance and original airfilter does not fit.

Richester leaks....Edelbrock no good.... so what is a good carb for the car??

The Q jet is an excellent carburetor if tuned and rebuilt properly .

Make sure your points and ignition parts are in perfect shape. Condensers are all Chinese junk these days. If you have an old one, put it on.

Make sure timing is dead on 7.5 degrees BTDC.

What about your fuel pump? Make sure its performing to spec per the manual.

Daytona Parts Co. rebuilt my QJet and did a spectacular job. It was an off the shelf reman from the 80s or something and had the wrong jets in it . Tim set it up to '66 Toro specs and it performed flawlessly.
