66 gas pedal

Postby Janice66Toro » Mon Aug 07, 2023 11:46 am

Hi All -
i'm working on my 66 and the gas pedal has been sliding off - i'm not sure whats going on - but here is a picture. Is it supposed to just be 'floating'? Or do I need some parts?
Thx,
Janice

Think, Janice, your car need a interior clean up - better a new carpet. The rubber from your gas pedal is broken. It will not hold it in place any more.
Ask John Dorcey for a better gas pedal or glue iyour pedal with a rubber like PU stuff (after you done the new carpet). That works as long you don´t need to remove it.

Thx roland - will reach out to John. LOL yes the carpet desperately needs replaced. Do you have any recommendations for that? Hard because of the built in rubber piece?

Car has sat for 20 years! trying to get her running before making her pretty :)

If your carpet was black, you can purchase a new one at Rockauto. Or try Ebay motors. Your rubber/metal tray for the drivers feet is gone, I guess. Its only screwed in the floor through the carpet. Maybe John is also the address for a good one.
To change the carpet is not very much work. Unscrew the front bench also and try to get help from your neighbor. The bench is very heavy.
Both door moldings unscrew, pull backseat and the carpet is free to demount. Keep an eye to the floor metal. No rust at all? Hope it for you...
