1969 Toro roof rail strips assembly

Hi Toronado friends!
Having replaced the vinyl top of our 1969 Toronado, we'd like to install the roof rail strips again.
However, it is hard to fit them without damaging them. Is there a tool or could you recommend something to get them in place?
I'd be very thankful for any hint.
