68 toro door question

Postby dan68toro » Fri Sep 24, 2010 7:49 pm

My 68 Toro's passenger door has been tricky to open from sitting inside the car. The handle didnt engage to open the door until pulled way back with a lot of force. Now I get nothing. I pull handle all the way back and nothing. It opens fine from the outside. Any ideas....worn internal parts? If so are the guts of a 69 and 68 door without powerlocks the same?

The internal parts of the 68 Custom doors will interchange with the 69 or 70, Custom regardless if it is equipped with manual or power locks and though physically connected the latch and lock systems function independently.

Whether using the inside button, turning the key in the door or the using the power lock button, all function as one, it (the lock mechanism) simply isolates the door latch from being operated by the outside handle there by locking the door.

It sounds as though something is broken or badly warn in side the door either the handle mechanism or the latch there is a simple rod running from one to the other.

Hope this helps
