hey guys,

i think the thread of my oil pressure switch is "screwed"...the thread of my old switch got only 2 or 3 threads left..the rest was kinda worn and blank ...so i bought a new one but couldnt get it back in the block.

only 2 turns are possible..then it stops..its also hard to get a straight alignment .....dont wanna use too much force to get it all the way down in the block so i'm thinking about a recut.

do u think its that simple? some guy told me it could be tapered...a NPT-thread..so recutting wont be that easy, right?

any suggestions?

It's a pipe thread, probably 1/8NPT. Pipe threads are tapered and bottom out on the threads themselves, the threads being the seal. If it's tight, just leave it there if it's not leaking.

If the threads are stripped, find someone with a tap to clean up the threads. if you bring the switch to any decent hardware store, they should have the tap. for under $15.

its not the thread on the switch that is stripped or damaged...i bought a new one.

its the thread in the block that's "damaged"..kinda weird ..can't get the new switch in the block right now cause it stops after 2 or 3 turns. dont want to use more power..i'm afraid of ruining it....
