Hello from Germany!

With some years of Toronado abstinence I´m back now! Hello at all and specially to @ jelonek.
I just bought a 67 Toro Basic from netherlands and want to bring it back at the streets. Has no electric windows but single bucket seats and console! Need some spares in time.
I live in the south of germany. 500 Miles away from Eastfrisia in Bavaria near ULM.
Would be nice to talk sometime together...

Hello, after a long time I'm reporting back from contaminated Europe
I have changed the rear old leaf spring, now I have the "new" 4x version. The whole work was a bit difficult, many screws were very tight (rusted). I also changed the horizontal shock absorbers. With the new 4x leaf springs you have to be careful, the attachment has to be adjusted, for me with 2 steel plates approx. 2cm thick, otherwise it is not stable enough and in Germany you do not get a technical examination with it (every 2 years mandatory). I show the problem in the pictures.
But ... there is a huge difference in driving! ... the old ones were really "tired". Now I can fly through any slope without problems. Attached is a picture from my last ride

what about the situation in US ??? Hotels, camping´s ... ist everything open? and what about your cars and project.
Now we have in D two friends, who make a copl. renovation from two 1966 Toronados - that really good !!

Pretty much back to normal here. In Georgia where I live we've been more or less back to normal since last year. No total lockdown or anything.

I just spent a week in Moab, Utah and the National Parks were packed restaurants and stores have no mask requirements or anything.

Lots of scaredy cats still wearing them while walking outside alone or driving in their own cars. Nuts.

Wojtek, please tell us, are your new leaf spring packs from an other car or truck? Or did you made it by a spring factory specialy for your Toronado? And if so, where you ordered it?
I understand the use of some 3/4" steel plates as fences for the new springs. It´s a acceptable technical solution. But I would never tell that to the technical inspector!

Nobody that I'm aware of produces new single leaf rear springs for the '66 Toro.

Eaton Detroit makes a 4 leaf replacement stack.

If your original single leaves are in decent shape, they can be re-tensioned.

What's the likelihood that a tech inspector in Germany would have any idea what to look for on a 55 year old American car? You guys sure have to put up with a lot of government crap over there.

Yes Otto, german government and law are very strong with any technical changes. And the inspectors are not idiots today. Many of them made special trainings for us cars of the 50th and 60th because you can buy those cars everywhere today. If you have bad luck, you get an interested and well trained inspector and he would tell you what is original and what not!
