Oil and filter change today

I changed the oil and filter on my new 66 Toronado today.
I replaced the unknown oil of unknown vintage with Valvoline Maxlife 10w30. I also added lucas oil stabilizer (maybe 1/4 of a quart). miles shown are 51196, believed to be the second time around.

The filter was a Fram PH25 with the grippy bottom. I put a store brand MLG3506 filter on. I typically use Purolator L25288 on my 455 Olds, and plan on using the same on the Toronado.

I also replaced the Oil pressure sending unit and was rewarded with a working oil light.

Now how do I get the temp guage working?

I don't plan on leaving this oil in long, I'm using this oil and filter as a "clean out". I plan to change oil again in a few weeks.

Temp gauge might be working. Check with ohmmeter against the sensors to see if you get any change when engine heats up. Could just be a bad connection. Rock Auto has them for around $12.

As far as oil filters are concerned. Rock Auto has ACDELCO UPF58 filters on sale for around $2. This is a VERY good filter. Around the same quality as Mobile 1. I think they used to sell for over $14. They are only specified for Eldorados, but they definitely fit Toronados. Have one on mine now. Just a thought.

Ordered a couple of cases myself. Use on my 78 Eldorado and 67 Toronado. Reason I know they were expensive is because you can still buy the UPF44 on Amazon, and thats $12. I think thats for Corvettes though. The PF44 is around $4, the UPF is the higher quality one. They are slightly smaller than the ones you have now, the physical filter diameter, but the seal will fit. I have enough filters for a decade.
