‘77 Pontiac Grand Prix Bucket Seat Adaptation
After a few problems and waiting a whole week, the new bucket seats are in the Toro! They had to be installed by a welder because of how the legs were shaped, but they do look good in it (it’s a different color from the interior of course, but I’ll probably have that addressed in the future). A lot more comfortable and safer than the old bench seat (only bolted by two bolts because it was too big). Now I would need to get new carpets because the guy ripped half of it off.

Also new mufflers and conversion from single to dual exhaust to make the car breathe better: https://www.instagram.com/p/CJre1BIFeHQ ... gwa3gal74y

So the 70 has single exhaust? I thought first gens were all the same.
66-67 at least have dual exhaust, share a single transversely mounted muffler, and then exit separately into their own resonators to which the chrome tailpipes are attached.

No, I believe 68-70 come standard with single exhaust and are either optional or came standard with the W-30 package. It starts as two pipes from each side of the engine blocks but then merges into one muffler that has one exit on the right side.

Clarification: Dual exhausts were either optional or came with the W-30 package.

I didn't know that. I knew they eliminated the chrome tipped tailpipes and the cutouts in the bumper for them but assumed they still had duals.

Yeah it kinda sucks that they went away with it being standard after ‘67, really restricts the car’s performance. I wanna keep the car as original as possible, but make it work for the modern world too (this is a daily driver after all).

A good, low restriction exhaust system will be hard to feel, but will definitely
show improved performance on your stopwatch. Better for mileage too.

Re: ‘77 Pontiac Grand Prix Bucket Seat Adaptation
Yeah that was one of my other goals: to make the car as fuel efficient as possible while gaining a bit of power. I mentioned “as original as possible,” meaning that I’ll try to achieve it if parts are available and if is still useful for the modern world. I looked for original bench or bucket seats, but no one had them, so I went with the other route and got a pair of buckets from a newer car. Safer than bench, but still looks relatively classic. Honestly, if there are some things that I know will be very hard or out of reach, I’ll just improvise. Anyways, it’s my car and I can shape to what I think an ideal Toronado is to me. The engine is original, and I want to keep it that way. The body is original, and I want to keep it that way. Hell, the wheels are original and I like the way it looks without hubcaps. As long as it’s driving and is being used for its full purpose (as a car and as my transportation), then that’s all that matters to me. Not as a showpiece car used once every blue moon, but as a daily, undergoing the heat, cold, and rain. I respect your opinion, I love how original Toronados look, but remember that a classic isn’t just a machine on four wheels, it can be a canvas in which you can express who you are. If you can’t enjoy it for what it is or what you made it to be, then that is pointless.
