This 1966 Oldsmobile Toronado Deluxe Coupe is beautifully repainted in it’s original color of Autumn Bronze metallic. The interior carpet, front seats and factory drivers floor mat are restored as original. The rear seat, trim, all door panels and headliner are excellent original!
This Toronado is equipped with most offered accessories Including:
Tilt & Trim steering wheel, corning lights, Push button trunk release, Power steering, brakes, windows and radio antenna, factory seat belts and AM/FM radio. No cruise controls. Has Comfortron A/C which is not working even though all AC parts have been rebuilt. Dual remote door mirrors. Chrome factory wheels.
Has the original Switch Pitch automatic transmission # 66-OJ-33250 and I was told the 425ci engine is original to the car. It runs and drives great after a complete rebuild of the original carb by “Sparkeys Carbs”. Best $500 I ever spent!
I purchased a new set of radial tires from Diamond Back Tires. They make a “Toronado” tire matching the original factory narrow W/W using BF Goodrich radials 255 x 70 R15, Widest which will fit in wheel wells without steering issues.
Other items attended to were:
1- Changed oil and filter.
2- Replaced both exhaust manifold to head gaskets.
3- Replaced rear light sockets and rewired rear brake lights and turn signals.
4- Replaced Distributor cap, condenser, points and plug wires.
5- Installed radiator overflow tank. Car never did and does not run hot.
6- Installed Chrome air filter and V/Covers. The very nice originals go with car.
7- R&R fuel sending unit from fuel tank and repair to function.
8- Switched transmission kick-down linkage from carb to throttle pedal (1968 style).
9- Replaced Alternator and voltage regulator.
10- Located and have all original factory service and chassis manuals to go with the car.
Sale price is $24,500. Please call me at (540) 642-6335 to discuss any questions about the car. (I am available from 12 noon to 12 midnight). I’ll be happy to tell you all I know both good and bad. This car will stop traffic wherever you go!!
This car is sold AS IS and WHERE IS and shipping is paid by the buyer. Payment is to be by Wire Transfer only. No checks of any kind. I have a clear, lien free Virginia title in my name to confer along with a full Bill of Sale.
Thanks,
Garland Gentry, T.O.A #1305

That's beautiful Garland. Why are you selling it?

I notice you have a coolant overflow tank. Is that a factory option? Did they even offer one? If not, what year/make/model did it come from? Someone else on this forum recently asked about an overflow tank for the Toro.

I put one on from my car junkyard Nissan but yours looks better.

Hi Otto,
I have been restoring my own classic cars and antique boats most of my life (75) and have also had a restoration shop to do the same for others as a profession. My passion is to return classic "Works of Art" back to life for future generations to learn, use and enjoy! I love the process, I am anal/OCD and once I have done all I can to preserve the car, I am ready to move on to the next adventure!! After 4 years, I have arrived at that point with this Toronado so I am passing it along to it's next caretaker.
As to the Overflow tank, Looks "factory" doesn't? I purchased it at the local auto parts store (NAPA I think). It is a Dorman® 54002 - Engine Coolant Recovery Kit ($12). Fits like a glove at that position and works perfect. Overflow line runs back under radiator cover to radiator cap outlet. Be sure your cap and seal are in top shape. I used a flat corner bracket from Lowes, bent as needed and bolted under existing bolt. I will take a close up picture showing the bracket and post here.
Thanks for the kind words for my Toro!!

That’s a beautiful car. You do nice work.

I’m curious tho, why the chrome air cleaner and valve covers? The originals look so good with fresh paint.

Other than that she’s a beauty. Hope you get your price.

I do have the complete original air cleaner assembly and valve covers in great shape. However, my first repairs to the car were replace leaking manifold exhaust gaskets and rebuild the carb. While doing that, I took the opportunity to repaint the engine (it is more of a blue than the photo shows). I did the chrome air cleaner for a less restrictive intake and the covers just to brighten up the engine. I had the 425 decal custom made in a local sign shop. The next owner will have the choice of which way he likes it. See photo below.
Thanks ,
Garland

The Flat bracket is 6" long on each side (like the package photo). Look at the bottle photo to see where to cut and how to bend. Measurer more than once and take in to account the bend uses about 1/4".

Pretty neat. Did you have to drill new new holes for the wire basket or did the holes in the bracket happen to line up?

Does that act as a recovery tank or just an overflow tank? In other words will your car draw coolant back out of the bottle as it cools down after a drive?
