Newbie with a 67 Toro in Bend,Oregon. Car is tired and needs to be loved. Hoping I can learn a lot and bring her back to life.

Hi Trailrunner,

I am restoring a 67 also; in the Tric-Cities area, WA, so not that far away. Hope you can post some pictures of your car, would love to see it and can give you some pointers on whatever servicing you want to do with your car.

Here'a a few pictures as requested. I got her a few weeks ago. I've been searching for years with a 1200 mile radius and one popped up ten miles from me! It was last tagged about 10 years ago and was sitting for who knows how long. Straight and pretty rust free. I changed the oil,greased the front end and I'm changing out the fluids one system at a time. Car is pretty complete. Motor appears to be original - definitely the Toro 425 by the numbers. I paid 2700 for her and I love this car. I already made my first mistake. It has a chevy quadrajet circa 1966 on it so the choke doesn't work properly so I found a 7023130 carb and took it apart to clean it in my parts washer and can't put it back together. I called Sparky today for advice - e-mailed pictures but I haven't heard back yet. I'd really like to do this right but I have limited experience. Once she warms up she runs like a true Olds.

Looks great! The trim on the exterior doors is from something else; never seen that on a Toro before. Would be very interested in seeing the interior of your car. We are relatively close (by western standards) so hope we can get together sometime and check out each other's rides. Happy New Year!

An experienced eye like yours is exactly what I need. After 46 years this car has been molested a bit. I would welcome any help you can offer in the way of a trained eye. I have a shop manual but in some instances it really isn't detailed enough to reverse what has been molested. I've started to change the fluids and looking under the hood and the vacuum lines and electrical are a mess. Didn't know the trim wasn't original. Thanks for pointing that out.

Happy to help if I can; send some more pictures of your interior when you have a chance; and I'm anxious to look those over. You already said that the engine number on your car indicated Toro engine (number is on a boss at rear of block, driver's side, and should have a number sequence R*******T. I'm also interested to see the body tag that you have on your car (driver's side, firewall). We will have to see if we can get together sometime this spring/summer and compare notes on cars. Actually, the outside molding is probably not a bad idea in many ways if your car will be a daily driver.

Hi - Ross in Bend with some pictures. The numbers on the rear of the passenger head are indeed R*****T which is good news. I found a replacement carb and sent it to Sparky to be rebuilt. I just removed and tossed the washer bottle because someone routed the radiator overflow to it and ruined it. I just ordered the correct bottle and the correct engine paint from Fusick. The dual snorkel air cleaner is hanging in my garage...just primered it. Valve covers are next. Not sure if I should paint the intake or not. Interior is tired, will need upholstery but the there are no cracks in the dash. Electrical and vacuum have been molested over the years. A bit intimidating for a novice. The missing scripts for the door panels are in the glove compartment. Not sure how they attach though. Found a NOS headlight switch and it's on the way. I woud like to get the headlight buckets to work. I also found an NOS turn signal switch (mine don't cancel) correct for tilt/tele and cornering lights. I have the correct shop manual. I've greased the front end, changed the oil, and the cooling system is next. Any thoughts or advice are greatly appreciated.
